The City of Bradenton Beach established a Corridor Advocacy Group (CAG) that has successfully achieved the designation of Gulf Drive (S.R. 789) as a scenic highway under the Florida Scenic Highway Program. The CAG includes both citizens and local governmental representation.
The Bradenton Beach Scenic Highway begins at the southern city limit of Bradenton Beach at the Longboat Pass Bridge and extends 2.8 miles to the northern city limits. The designation of Gulf Drive (S.R. 789) as the Bradenton Beach Scenic Highway highlights the area’s scenic, natural, historic, and recreational opportunities and combines these features into a cohesive tourist accessible byway providing education, boating and beach access in an area which retains the flavor of “Old Florida”.
